DELHI - Tim Duerden, director of the Delaware County Historical Association, will discuss his new book, “Escape From the Sugar House: Levi Hanford and the American Revolution,” during a presentation and book signing Sept. 12 at the association.
Published by Purple Mountain Press, the 212-page book follows Levi Hanford, a teenager imprisoned by the British as a prisoner of war during the American Revolution.
The work is historical fiction, but its narrative draws on true events and incorporates episodes from Hanford’s wartime experiences. Illustrated with drawings, the book is aimed at young adults but is also intended for adult readers.
The presentation will be free and open to the public, with refreshments served. Duerden will sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase for $25.
The Delaware County Historical Association is at 46549 state Highway 10 in Delhi.
