The Adirondack Mountain Club, Susquehanna Chapter, will continue its winter schedule of easy, guided hikes and public programs throughout February, offering residents a low-key way to stay active and engaged outdoors.
The chapter’s Tuesday morning hikes begin Feb. 3 at Wilber Park in Oneonta, followed by outings at Fortin Park on Feb. 10, the Hamden Rail Trail in Hamden on Feb. 17, and the Susquehanna Greenway’s Silas Lane entrance in Oneonta on Feb. 24. The hikes are generally short, over flat or gently rolling terrain, and are conducted at a leisurely pace; any variations are noted in advance.
The group will also hold its monthly potluck supper and program on Feb. 18. The supper begins at 6 p.m., followed at 7 p.m. by a presentation from Donna Vogler, chair of the Oneonta Susquehanna Greenway. Meetings from September through May are held at Elm Park United Methodist Church in Oneonta; summer meetings move outdoors to local parks.
All hikes and meetings are open to members and nonmembers alike. Participants are expected to bring appropriate clothing, gear and sufficient water. Those seeking details on meeting locations or last-minute updates can consult the chapter’s website or call the hike line at 607-431-8010.
