A Doo-Wop Revival Comes to Bainbridge April 18

BAINBRIDGE -  On Saturday, April 18, the Corvettes Doo Wop Revue will take the stage at 15 North Main Street, bringing a high-octane program dedicated to the era of harmony, hair grease, and the heavy backbeat.

While many tribute acts lean into the nostalgia of the “good old days,” the Corvettes have built a reputation for a specific brand of energetic preservation. The group, which tours nationally from New Orleans to Las Vegas, treats the Doo-Wop era not as a museum piece, but as a living celebration.

The Revue frequently shares the marquee with the very legends they emulate, having toured with foundational acts like The Drifters, The Platters, and The Shirelles. Their repertoire is a dizzying catalog of the mid-century American songbook, featuring staples such as “Earth Angel,” “In the Still of the Night,” and “Runaround Sue.”

The performance style—equal parts musical precision and comical stage antics—draws frequent comparisons to the legendary revivalists Sha Na Na, aiming to transform the theater into a sprawling, all-out celebration of the 1950s.

Attendees will be treated to a local historical marvel before the first vocal harmony is even struck. The Town Hall Theatre serves as the home for a 1933 Æolian/Skinner residence organ.

The instrument is one of only five such organs ever built for upstate New York and is believed to be the only one remaining in intact, playable condition. Organ music will provide a singular prelude to the rock and roll festivities, offering a rare acoustic experience that predates the jukebox era.

The Gallery: Doors open at 6 p.m., featuring the photography of Mark Witcomb and Rod Sutton. The gallery remains open through intermission and is free to the public.

The Concert: The performance begins at 7 p.m.

Reservations: Given the group’s popularity, organizers recommend calling 607-288-3882 to guarantee seating.
