Wilma Carol Phoenix, 66, of Walton, passed away with her loving family by her side, Friday, Jan. 12, 2024, at her home in Walton.
Born on Feb. 16, 1957, in Walton, she was the daughter of the late Colonel William Phoenix and Agnes Mae (Tweedie) Phoenix.
Wilma enjoyed shopping and spending time with friends and family. She was an avid NASCAR fan and huge Tony Stewart fan. She loved Christmas and was a lifelong horse lover. Wilma received her first pony at the age of 4, delivered to her in the back of the family station wagon. In later years, she enjoyed attending local horse shows to watch her family show their horses. She attended Plymouth Church in Walton.
Wilma lived in Johnson City, Tenn., for many years and recently returned to Walton to be closer to her family and dear friends. Wilma was employed at Bard Parker in Hancock, several hotel chains, Walmart and most recently Rolling V Bus Corp.
She is survived by her loving family, sisters Doris (William) McAdams of Walton, and Deana (Donald) Buchanan of Walton. Wilma is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins.
She is predeceased by her brother, Dwight Michael Phoenix.
A Celebration of life will be held Saturday, Jan. 27, at Plymouth Church at 11 a.m., with visitation from 10 – 11, followed by a reception.
