(William) Wayne Decker

Wayne Decker of Andes passed away Friday July 16, 2021 at home. He was 86. 

He was born in Delhi to Edwin M. And Marian (Hyzer) Decker. On April 6, 1957 Wayne and Diane (Haussler) were married in Rochester, and this year celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary.

Wayne was a 1952 graduate of Andes Central School. He received his BA degree from Alfred University in 1956. Wayne and Diane met at Alfred while in college.

He was in the U.S. Army from 1956-1958 and was stationed in the Far East with U.S. Army Intelligence during the Cold War. Wayne started working at the feed store while in high school and was the manager of Decker’s Farm and Building Supplies for many years, retiring in October 1996. He was an avid bridge player for more than forty years, took up gold in later years and skied the slopes nearby and far away. He also served 38 years on the board of directors of the National Bank of Delaware County.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Diane, son Jeffrey in Colorado, brother Richard (Laurie) in Arizona, two nieces and his nephew.

He was predeceased by his sister Phyllis D. Wagner in June 2005.
