William (Bill) Hood, 76, of Hamden, passed away on Jan. 16, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his family and beloved dog, Annie.
Bill was born on July 27, 1944 in Hamden where he lived his entire life. After graduating high school he enlisted in the national guard for several years. Bill worked various jobs throughout his young life until he settled into his career as a maintenance mechanic at Deltown for almost 30 years.
Bill is survived by two siblings, Gary (Carol) Hood of East Branch, and Audrey(George) Wood of Hamden; his three children Matt (Elenor) Hood of Downsville, Kim (Jesse) Boldt of Gilbertsville, and Dain (Sarah) Hood of Downsville; several grandchildren: Zachary Hood, Shakaria Hood, Camden Mckown, Alyssa Sorochinsky, Brayden Hood, Olivia Hood, and Branson Hood; and one great-grandchild, Katrina Siegler.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Ivan and Elsie Hood, and his brother, Dick Hood.
Bill was an avid outdoorsman who spent much of his time in his younger years hunting, fishing and snowmobiling. He enjoyed the simple pleasures in life.
A special thank you to the people at Helios Care for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Harris Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.
A celebration of life and burial will be held at a future date.
