Highway department: With spring and summer before us, the Walton Highway Department reminds motorist to slow down in work zones and watch for mowers along roadsides. Help keep our employees safe by slowing down, stay alert and obey signs.

Code enforcement: Walton’s Zoning requires building permits to be filed with the code enforcement officer. Applications can be found at www.townofwalton.org under “eDocuments” or by contacting the code enforcement officer at 607-865-5204.

Dog control: Currently, the Walton is conducting a dog enumeration. Starting June 1,  an additional $5 enumeration fee will be added to all new dog licenses. All dogs four month of age or older must have a valid dog license. Respect the leash law: any dog off your property must be on a leash.

Free rabies clinic: There will be a free rabies clinic on June 15 at the Franklin Fire Hall from 4:45 – 6:45 p.m.

Town clerk: The town clerk’s office will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day.

Veterans Plaza: Those wishing to hold events at Veterans Plaza must apply for a permit 30-days prior to the scheduled event. 

Meeting Notices: The next scheduled meeting of the Walton Town Council will be June 13 at 6 p.m. Planning board meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7:30 p.m. when there are items on the agenda. Zoning board meets the second Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. Justice court is held every Wednesday at 2 p.m.
