Victor Caffery

Victor L. Caffery, 84, of Walton passed away on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at home after a long illness.

Born on Jan. 30, 1937 in Downsville, he was a son of the late Lester and Katherine (Beadle) Caffery and Mabel (Croop) Caffery Briggs and James Briggs.

In 1954, Victor enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country until 1956. After his time in the service, he held several different jobs before his employment at S.J. Bailey & Sons where he was a foreman. 

Victor was proud to be a veteran and showed that by his longtime membership on the Walton American Legion and his involvement in the club. He was very active in the Memorial Day parade and the rifle volley for funeral honors. Every Friday night Victor would be found at the Vet’s club playing cards with friends. You could always find him in the kitchen baking sweets such as cookies, pies and cinnamon rolls. He also enjoyed cooking large meals and his twice-baked potatoes were a family favorite. A few of his other hobbies included hunting and fishing. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his family whether it was at picnics or any other gatherings.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 64 years, Patrica Caffery; their children Victor T. Caffery (Denise), David W. Caffery and Jennifer Caffery; his grandchildren Amanda Caffery, Jasmine Caffery, Chelsey Caffery Kraus (Jeff), Heather Herren, Janna Frank, Geoffrey Frank, Cheyanne Bowker, Brian Caffery (Beth), Emma Healey (Dillon), Grace Healey and Iva Healey; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a son Douglas P. Caffery; and his siblings Lester A. “Curly” Caffery, Harold E. “Bud” Caffery and Barbara Caffery Hoyt.

Calling hours and funeral were held Tuesday, July 6, at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. There was a graveside service at Walton Cemetery.
