Two New COVID Cases Reported To Delaware County

Posted

DELHI – After several days of flat numbers, county officials say two new cases of COVID-19 were reported to them by the State Department of Health. The total number reported is now 72, with 12 of those cases transferred to other counties. Two people are still hospitalized, nine are covering at home, and 25 are in mandatory quarantine. Test results are still pending for 15 people.

Overall, numbers are still significantly lower than they were in the middle of April.

Daily positive cases reported will, under new state regulations, have impacts on hospitals in those counties. The state has given the green light to some hospitals in regions with declining virus case numbers to resume elective surgeries.

Otsego County and Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown were not among those in the list of approved areas, and officials at the Bassett Healthcare Network say they are reaching out to the state Department of Health to find out why, saying they believe their hospitals still meet the criteria set by the state.

Three Bassett Network hospitals are, as of Thursday, eligible to resume elective surgeries: Little Falls Hospital in Herkimer County, O'Connor Hospital in Delaware County, and Cobleskill Regional Hospital in Schoharie County.
