The Springvale Armadillo

The Open Eye Theater is proud to present the world premiere production of The Springvale Armadillo by Donald Loftus.

The Springvale Armadillo, based on a true story, begins in 1917, in a small town in Louisiana, where a young debutante, Ruby, is diagnosed with a disease that rips her away from her family to live in Springvale, a leprosarium. Seventy years later, a troubled, young reporter from The Boston Globe, Matthew Coleman, arrives to interview her for a human-interest story on survival. Ruby shares her tale of lost love, resilience and survival as Matthew confronts his grief amid the AIDS crisis.

Directed by Michelle Macau, with Anne Saxon-Hersh, Pat Hoffstatter, Pamela Joy, and Keith Weiss. Set Design by David Hill; Lighting Design by Ron Nash, and Composed by John Sheridan.
