Historian and author Richard Sears Walling will present a program called “The Lost Mondore Village of Prattsville” Saturday, June 18, at 1 p.m. at Zadock Pratt Museum, 14540 Main Street, Prattsville. Prattsville, in northwestern Greene County in the Catskills, is the site of the former settlement known as Mondore Village which was home to several African American families dating to the colonial period and early 19th century.

Ten related men of Mondore Village served during the Civil War, and other men in later wars. The story of these men, and of the extended families who lived in the Prattsville area will be told by Walling. The program marks the new national holiday of Juneteenth and is sponsored by the museum. For further information call 607-287-1640 or email richwalling@hotmail.com.
