Sidney Library schedule through Oct. 14

The Sidney Memorial Public Library has released its scheduled events through Oct. 15. Call the library at 607-563-1200 to register for programs and activities, or with questions. Call 607-265-3330 for questions for registrations for events at the Masonville Branch Library.

The Sidney Library and the Masonville Branch will be closed Monday, Oct. 10 for the federal holiday.

During October the Sidney Memorial Public Library will host an exhibit of the drawings and paintings of Korean born Sugwon Kang, professor emeritus of political science at Hartwick College. 

Saturday, Oct. 1 10 a.m.-1 p.m. First Saturday Adult Craft. Join Joy for a fall grapevine wreath class. Choose from fall themed decorations to create your own wreath for your home or to gift; $5 materials fee due on registration at the circulation desk.

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte sale every first and third Saturday in the library lobby.

11 a.m.: StoryTime with Raggedy Reader at the Masonville Library. Come for stories about fall and picking apples - songs too. Preregistration not required.

12-1 p.m. Open Tech Hour at Masonville Library. Registration required for a 30-minute appointment. Call 607.265.3330 to register.

Monday, Oct. 3 1-3 p.m. Open Tech Hours. Registration required. For those struggling with phones, laptops, or tablets. Stop or call to register.3-4:30 p.m.: Minecraft Club for those age 8-17. Participants will join the library’s Private World and participants will help complete objectives/create. If the class is full, participants may play at the Osmo station or with Robots Dash & Dot while waiting their turn to play Minecraft.

Tuesday, Oct. 4 10 a.m.: Story Time. Fun with stories, songs, rhymes, and a craft.

10:45 a.m. Music for Munchkins on the first and third Tuesdays at 10:45 a.m. Expect a bouncing, dancing, good time with songs, instruments, a story and - make tambourines.

2:30-3:15 p.m. Zoom Lego Club: Minecraft Club for those age 8-17. Participants will join the library’s Private World and participants will help complete objectives/create. If the class is full, participants may play at the Osmo station or with Robots Dash & Dot while waiting their turn to play Minecraft. Builders can share their Lego masterpieces. 3:15-4:30 p.m. In-person Lego Club is for builders of all ages. Put your creativity to the test and build a masterpiece. Participants can free build or receive a building challenge from Miss Cassandra. Participants will have opportunities to display masterpieces in the glass case for a week.

Wednesday, Oct. 5 3:30-5 p.m.: Teen Club for those in grades 7-12. Join others for crafts, games, computer fun, and snacks are always served.

Thursday, Oct. 6 3-4:30 p.m. Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: Artist Spotlight: Yulia Brodskaya and the art of Paper Quilling. This in-person program was designed for school aged children and will consist of Crafts, STEAM, and other creative activities. Different craft/activity weekly.

Friday, Oct. 7 3-4:30 p.m. Tween Club for those in grades 5-7. Come to the library for crafts, games, computer fun, and more. This is the place for Tweens to hang out and get creative.

Saturday, Oct. 8 1 p.m. Second Saturday Movies will show Where the Crawdads Sing, a special showing on the big screen of this bestselling book and box office hit. Rated PG-13; approximate run time 2 hours and 5 minutes. Bring your own snacks and enjoy the show.

Tuesday, Oct. 11 10 a.m.: Story Time theme: Autumn Leaves and fun with songs, rhymes, and a craft.

10:45 a.m. PreK Library Learners. A PreK program where your child will learn having fun with books, songs, rhymes and more.

11:30 a.m.: Friends of the Libraries Book Group meets the second Tuesday each month at 11:30. The Group will read and discuss Devil in the White City by Erik Larson. New members always welcome.

6-7 p.m. Tech Class: Telehealth How-To. Registration is required. Participants will learn to attend remote appointments using our portable Telehealth Kit. Thursday, Oct. 13 3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: Sleuths & Spies. We will write with invisible ink, figure out clues to solve the mystery and more. Designed for school aged children and will consist of Crafts, STEAM, and other creative activities. Different craft/activity each week.
