Sidney Library events for Jan. 19-Feb. 4

The Sidney Memorial Public Library has released its scheduled events for Jan. 19-Feb. 4. Call the library at 607-563-1200 to register for programs and activities, or with questions regarding any of these programs. Call 607-265-3330 for questions for registrations for events at the Masonville Branch Library.

During the months of January and February artists Ed DeForest and Janet Vance will be featured. 

Thursday, Jan. 19 3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: Artist spotlight: Andy Warhol. This program was designed for school children and consists of crafts, STEAM, and other activities. Different activities weeekly.

Friday, Jan. 20 3-4:30 p.m.: Tween Club for those in grades 5-7. Crafts, games, computer fun, and more - a place for tweens to hang out and be creative.

Saturday, Jan. 21 10 a.m.-1 p.m. – Painting with Joy: Sky and Clouds; $5 materials fee due on registration.

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte Sale every first and third Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Sunday, Jan. 22 1:30-3:30 p.m. – Friends of the Libraries Movie: Downton Abbey: A New Era. Rated PG-13; run time two hours and five minutes.

Monday, Jan. 23 1-3 p.m.: Open Tech Hours. Registration is required for those struggling with phones, laptops or tablets. 

1-4 p.m.: In-Stitches Quilting Group. New members welcome.

3-4:30 p.m.: Minecraft Club (ages 8-17) Participants will join the Library’s Private World and help complete objectives/create. If the class is full, participants might play at the Osmo station or with Robots Dash & Dot.

Tuesday, Jan. 24   

10 a.m.: Story Time theme - Trains. Stories, songs, rhymes and a craft.

10:45 a.m.: PreK Library Learners. Theme - raccoons. Fun with books, songs, rhymes and more.

2:30-3:15 p.m.: Zoom Lego Club: All age builders! New Lego challenges weekly selected by Miss Cassandra. Builders can share their Lego Masterpieces. Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/95009586932

3:15-4:30 p.m.: In-person Lego Club. All age builders! Put your creativity to the test and build a masterpiece. Free build or receive a challenge from Miss Cassandra. Participants might display their masterpiece in the case for one week. 

4:30 p.m.: Board of Trustees meeting. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

5-6 p.m.: Open Tech Hour at Masonville Library. Call 607.265.3330 to register for a 30 minute-appointment.

Wednesday, Jan. 25

11 a.m.: New - Pre-K Tablet Time: Children will use the pre-programmed educational apps on library tablets for independent learning fun.

3:30-5 p.m.: Teen Club for those in grades 7-12. Crafts, games, computer fun - this is a place for Teens to hang out and get creative! Don’t forget, we always have snacks.

5:30-7:15 p.m.: Open Tech Hours. Registration required for those struggling with phones, laptops, or tablets. Stop or call to register.

Thursday, Jan. 26

3-4:30 p.m.: Crafts & Creations w/Miss Cassandra: STEM: Ice Cream. An in-person program designed for school children with crafts, STEAM and other activities. Different craft/activity weekly.

Friday, Jan. 27

3-4:30 p.m.: Tween Club for those in grades 5-7. Crafts, games, computer fun and more - a place for the tweens to hang out and be creative.

Saturday, Jan. 28

10 a.m.-1 p.m.: Scrapbooking for Beginners with staff member Connie for a free scrapbooking workshop. Bring your photos, pages, ideas and questions. A variety of papers, cardstock, stickers, tools and inspirational examples will be available for those attending. Call to register.

Monday, Jan. 30

1-3 p.m.: Open Tech Hours. Registration required for those struggling with phones, laptops, or tablets. Stop or call to register.

10 a.m.-1 p.m. – First Saturday Craft: Folded Book Hearts. Learn to repurpose a hardcover book into art. Choose from a simple heart or a heart-within-a-heart design; $5 materials fee due at registration which must be completed at the circulation desk.

10:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Friends of the Libraries Books a la Carte Sale every first and third Saturday, 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

11 a.m.: StoryTime - Valentine’s Day - at the Masonville Library with Raggedy Reader. Songs and a craft. Preregistration not required.

12-1 p.m.: Open Tech Hour at Masonville Library; call to register for a 30 minute-appointment.
