Sherry Beth Tennant, 72, of Walton, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021 at University of Miami Hospital in Miami, Florida, following a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.
Born on June 19, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Emily (Offenberg) Simon.
Sherry was a graduate of Hewlett High School, class of 1966. In 1970 she graduated from SUNY Oneonta with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education. On May 31, 1970 she married John Tennant. The two were married for 48 years before he passed away in January of 2019.
Sherry loved music, reading, chatting with friends, and going for walks. Throughout her childhood and adolescent years, she enjoyed the water and spending time at the beach. After marrying John, one of her favorite pastimes was the long car trips they took together. She was incredibly kind and caring and cherished her time with her family.
Sherry is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Andrea and son-in-law Jay Walsh of Florida; her sister Ellen (Jeff) Kimmel, Florida; her sister-in-law, Judy Simon, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her beloved husband, John, and her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Alan Simon and her sister, Debbie Simon.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 21, at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue in Walton.
