Sharon A. Utter, 75, of Afton, passed away peacefully Jan. 29, 2022 at her son’s house in Millbrook, Ala., where she planned to enjoy the warmer climate until the beginning of summer.

She was born Oct. 25, 1946, in Walton, daughter of McKay and Anna Moneta (Lisiesky).

In Walton she grew up raising and showing quarter horses on their farm on East River Road, Walton. She attended Fredonia State University and Beauty School of Oneonta. She was an active community member for the St. Agnes Catholic Church, Afton, Women’s Guild for many years. She was the non-instructional union steward at Afton Central School where she worked as a study hall monitor, class advisor, and loved to dance to Bob Segar at class dances. She coached girl’s community softball league, and was a weekend big game hunter on the Everett Baker Camp. She had many community friends at the Trackside Diner in Sidney.

She was a avid NY Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan, and loved to watch the Lady Tarheels Basketball Team on TV.

She is survived by four sons: Brian Utter of Dalhart, Texas, Todd Utter of Chapel Hill, N.C., Chad Utter and family of Millbrook, Ala., and Derek and Stephanie Utter and family of Florence, S.C.; 10 grandchildren, four of her “little furry buddies,” her brother Michael Moneta of Charlotte, N.C., sister Joan Davis of Johnstown.

Mom was predeceased by her husband of 53 Years, Wade R. Utter, in 2019; her oldest son, Alan R. Utter, and her parents McKay and Anna Moneta.

Graveside services will be held in the spring/summer in Glenwood Cemetery, Afton. Consider memorial donations to the Alan Utter Memorial Student Activity Scholarship Award, PO Box 5, Afton NY 13730.
