Seward Remains Hospitalized

ALBANY -- Despite initial optimism that State Senator James Seward would be discharged from the hospital after a confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19, his office says he remains at Albany Medical Center with no further information available.

Seward, the ranking Republican on the state finance committee, announced in November that his bladder cancer had returned and he was undergoing treatment. He said in January that he would not be running for re-election. Last week his office announced that both he and his wife, Cindy, have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Jeffrey Bishop, Communications Director for the senator, said Mrs. Seward is under quarantine at home.
