Sandra A. Elmore, 74, of Downsville, passed away suddenly in a motor vehicle accident on Friday, Sept. 25, 2020 with her beloved brother Eugene Mills.

Born Dec. 8, 1945 in Delhi, she was a daughter of the late Reginald and Isabelle Knapp Mills.

Sandra worked at Roscoe Community Nursing Home for over 50 years. She starting as a CNA and was promoted to Activities Director. After retirement Sandra returned to the nursing home, continuing to care for the residents as a Dietary Aide. She was a longtime member of the James S. Moore American Legion Post 167 in Downsville and was very active with the Colchester Senior Citizens Club. Sandra loved to go on cruises and camping trips to Verona Beach but most of all, she loved spending time with her many family and friends.

Survivors include her children Trudy Warner (John Hughes) of Walton, Kandi Elmore of Harris, and Eunice DeFalco of Downsville; brothers Donald Mills and James (Goldie) Mills; sisters Roxanne Bartolillo (Mike), Terry Allen, Mickey McClenon (Patrick) and Tracey Wilson; grandchildren Trevor Warner, Taylor “Bubbles” Elmore, Elizabeth DeFalco and great-granddaughter Elsie Wayman. Sandra is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She is predeceased by her husband Reginald A. Elmore whom she married April 16, 1983; grandson Tyler R. Warner; brothers Reginald Mills, Clark “Cork” Mills, William H. Mills, Thomas Mills and sister Bridget Mills.

A Mass to celebrate Sandra’s life will take place at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Downsville at the convenience of the family. Sandra will be laid to rest at Paige Cemetery, Downsville. A service to celebrate the life of Sandra and her beloved brother Gene will be held on Saturday, Oct. 3, at the James S. Moore American Legion Post 167, 4466 River Road, Downsville, beginning at 4 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend to support the family and share stories and memories of Sandra and Gene.
