Robert E. Couch

Robert E. Couch of Downsville, a retired electrician for Local IBEW #363 in Harriman and a lifelong area resident, died Thursday, May 7, 2020 at O’Conner Hospital in Delhi. He was 73. 

The son of the late Eugene Austin Couch and Mildred Edna Dolan, he was born March 10, 1947 in Monticello. Robert had been a member of the National Rifle Association, a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Harriman, a member of SUNY Delhi College Golf Course; and a former volunteer for the Downsville Fire Department. He was the owner of The Golf Doctor; the former co-owner of Nightcap in Middletown, and the former co-owner of Ye Ole Schoolhouse Restaurant in Downsville. Robert was an avid golfer and hunter; he attended St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Downsville and St. James Episcopal Church in Lake Delaware. 

Survivors include two sisters, Lois Couch of Gloucester, Mass. and Elizabeth Lader of Liberty; two brothers, Scott Donaldson of New Paltz and William Donaldson of California; three daughters, Melissa Andreotti of Goshen, Julie Maloy and her husband Christopher of Pine Bush, and Tricia Saverino and her husband Jason of Cape Coral, Fla.; a son, Aaron Couch of Pennsylvania; three granddaughters, Kailey Couch, Eleni Andreotti and Chloe Saverino; three grandsons, Ryan Maloy, Mark Andreottid, and Patrick Maloy; and several nieces and nephews. 

He was predeceased by his stepfather, William Donaldson; and a sister, Marilyn Donaldson.

Due to the current health crisis, a memorial service will be scheduled at a later date.
