Robert C. Pickett, 82, of Bloomville, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2021, at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.
Born on July 23, 1938 in Conesville, He was the son of the late Vernon H. and Alma Mae (Place) Pickett.
He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1957 until 1960. Following his honorable service, Robert lived in Chesapeake, Va., later moving to Grand Gorge for 20 years and finally settling in Bloomville in 1990. Robert worked for Catskill Craftsman for many years, retiring in 2008.
Robert was married to his beloved wife of 49 years Joyce C. (Flint) Pickett on Dec. 31, 1971.
He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing and hunting, never passing up a lawn sale and could often found working on a small engine or fixing a machine.
Robert was predeceased by his brothers Wilfred Pickett and Vernon Pickett Jr., brothers-in-law Robert “Boogie” and Gene Flint, and nephew, Ronald Pickett.
Besides his wife Joyce, Robert is survived by his children Robert P. (Jennifer Craft) Pickett, Edward Pickett and Laura Pickett; stepchildren Diane, Valerie, and Denny Hart from Virginia; grandchildren Jordyn, Kenton, Callan and Sabrina; step-grandchildren Sophia, Layla, and Delilah; daughter-in-law Nikki Pickett; former daughter-in-law Brandee Warner; sister-in-law Dorothy Pickett; brother-in-law Johnie Ray (Crystal) Flint; several nieces and nephews including Donald (Carol) Pickett, Tina Willert, Andrew “Mickey” Flint, Connie Flint, Debbie Pickett, and Diane Pickett; great-nieces Leah Morton and Brittany Pickett and many more cousins and friends.
At Robert’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
Contributions in memory of Robert should be made to Bloomville EMS or Robinson Terrace in Stamford who had cared for Robert for the last several years.
