Robert Hoyt Bartlett, age 87, went home to be with his Savior on July 29 at his home in Walton surrounded by his loving family.
Bob was born on April 26, 1937, in Walton to Ray L. and Kathryn (Hoyt) Bartlett. Bob married Sarah Harrington on Nov. 30, 1957. Bob, who had grown up on his family farm, bought his own farm on Pines Brook. He farmed his land until his diagnosis of Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 1968. After going into remission, he became a TV repairman and had his own business - Bartlett’s TV - for many years. He and his sons put up many antennae in the area. He was known for being able to fix anything and was called on often by local farmers to fix their balers.
Music was very important to Bob throughout his life. He played the accordion and the cornet. He also sang in the Delaware County Men’s Choir and often sang in his church. He instilled a love of music in his children, and the family often sang together and played their instruments. One of his favorite traditions at Christmas was listening to his family play Christmas carols on their instruments on Christmas Eve.
Family was incredibly important to him, second only to his devotion to God. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Sarah, and his four children: David (Bonnie), Cathy (Jim) McLachlan, Dan (Christa), and Ray (Jenny). He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren: Kenneth (Janay), Ben (Jessica), Keith (Hannah), Duncan (Kari) McLachlan, Nathan McLachlan, Robert (Rachel) McLachlan, Amanda (Ben) Nelson, Daniel, Matthew (Lydia), Walter, Josiah (Jen), Rebekah (Bobby) Doig, and Caleb (Caitlin) Bartlett. He was blessed with 19 great-grandchildren and a 20th due soon. Also surviving are his brother, Henry, his sister, Lucille, and his sister-in-law, Barbara, as well as many cousins, nephews, and nieces.
He was predeceased by his parents, Ray and Kathryn, his brother, Douglas, and his sister-in-law, Sonja.
Calling hours will be Thursday, Aug. 1, at Pines Brook Baptist Church from 7 - 9 p.m. A celebration of his life will be held Friday at 11a.m. at the same location.
Because of his love of music, Bob requested that any donations be made in his name to his favorite radio station, WPEL, PO Box 248, Montrose, PA 18801-0248.
