Robert A. Caruso, 57 of Walton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Wilson Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born July 1, 1962 in Walton, he was a son of the late Michael and Nellie Campbell Caruso.
Robert was a crossing guard with the Village of Walton for many years. Bob was a fixture on the corner of Mead and Townsend streets taking care of the kids, keeping them safe and always greeting them with a smile. Bob was an avid NASCAR fan following his favorite drivers Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr., loved watching WWE and spending time with his close friends and family. He also volunteered his time at the First Congregational Church in Walton, helping snow blow during storms and setting up cones in front of the church each day.
Survivors include his brothers Michael Caruso Jr. (Suzanne) of New Berlin, James Caruso of Unadilla, Frank Caruso of Delhi, William Caruso of South Bend, Ind. and Brian Caruso (Debra) of Walton; sister Debra Cremeans (Charles) of Walton; best friend Timothy Wood of Walton and his beloved cat, Midnight, whom he referred to as “Little Man.” Robert is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents Michael and Nellie Campbell Caruso and sisters Elizabeth Caruso and Gloria Jean Caruso.
A service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held at a day and time to be announced.
