Rita Jean Protheroe, 59, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly in her home Aug. 22, 2021.
She is survived by her loving mother, Joy Ann Neer, many cousins, and countless friends.
Rita was a devoted daughter and valued any time she could spend with her mom. She called her mom almost every day. Rita enjoyed checking in with her cousins as well, and was a valued member of the Walton community. She attended Walton Alliance church, where she volunteered to clean each week, and was well-known in Walton’s shops and restaurants. She attended The Arc of Delaware’s Studio 190 where she loved to create art. She was proud of her art and often shared her work with others, including her mom. Rita was a faithful Dallas Cowboys fan and watched their games whenever she could. Rita was a generous soul, and her smile and caring nature will be missed by her mother, her family, and her many friends.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, Sept. 2, at 11 a.m. at CH Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main Street, Sidney.
