DELHI – No new positive cases of the COVID- 19 virus were reported Friday, according to the Delaware County Department of Public Health Services.

The total number of cases reported is at 72, with 12 of those reports transferred to where the patients were found to actually be. Two people remain hospitalized, 24 are in mandatory quarantine, and four have died.

Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced that all schools in the state will remain closed for the rest of the school year, and a decision on summer school will be made by the end of the month. He instructed schools to begin planning for a fall opening that incorporated social distancing and other current public safety mandates.

There were another thousand new cases of the virus in the state since Thursday, and more than 300 deaths. Cuomo said it appeared that the virus's decline has plateaued. He called for hospitals to provide more information on any new cases so the state could develop a more targeted response to get the rate of infection to decline still further.
