Maxine Lora Ware, 84, of Newark, Dl., passed away on July 10, 2021.

Born in Walton on April 15, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Earl and Jessie (Gray) Brooks. After graduation from Walton High School, class of 1955, she started her life adventure.

She was a self-made, strong-willed, fun-loving, Irish girl who always put the needs of others before her own. Maxine was a talented poet who had several pieces published throughout her life. In addition to her poetry, Maxine was a talented artist in many mediums. During her life, Maxine held many positions in many states, traveling all over the United States alongside her husband. She was known for the great volunteer work she did at many organizations: Tri-State Bird Center, Senior Center, and Food Bank at Holy Family R.C. Church to name a few. She was very devoted to the Native American Indigenous People and their needs.

Her dream was peace and happiness for all mankind. A bouquet of beautiful memories, sprayed with a million tears. We are so grateful to God for blessing our lives with the beautiful gift of Maxine. We love her, we miss her, and we are proud to keep her dream and vision alive.

In addition to her parents, Maxine was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred Gannon, Norma Brainard, and Virginia Hare.

She leaves to cherish in her memory her husband of 55 years, Albert Joseph Ware; sister Cheryl A. Burczak (Russell); and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces, great-great-nephews, and many, many special friends.

All services will be held privately. Interment will be held privately in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Maxine’s memory to St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 300, Chamberlain, SD 57325-9919.
