J.Petit-Senn: “True courage is like a kite; a contrary wind raises it higher.”

Good luck to students getting ready for new adventures in new classes, be it college, elementary or high school. Be ready for new acquaintances and new teachers.

Those of you who are riding the buses, take note of the new kids that may be riding the bus for the first time and try to help them get comfortable by talking with them and being their friend, keeping them from being afraid of the new experience. Have a great year and be sure to be kind to your teachers, this may be a new experience for them also.

Here on the Farm it has been quiet; the fellas have not been able to get more second cutting in this week as we are having much needed rains. Hope everyone had a good Labor Day Weekend even though we are having rain that has been badly needed with the dry summer we have had. The fellas will miss the help of our daughter’s twins, Noah and Nathan, when they start school. They have been helping a lot with the chores and learned a lot this summer. They are looking forward to the weekends when they come back to the farm and help, but are anticipating a good year in school and meeting their friends again. This month should be when the hoof trimmer is scheduled to come to trim the cows feet but we have not heard from him yet. The milk tester from Dairy One is also coming soon, along with the vet for the monthly check on the cows health issues, and ordering what new medicines that need. The corn is growing and I am sure that it will appreciate these rains that we are having. The fellas are anticipating some third cutting and will be putting some fertilizer on the newly-seeded ground if it does not get too wet in the fields. Keep purchasing dairy products for cooking, baking and your own enjoyment and try the new products that are coming on the market. Have a great safe and healthy week everyone.

September is National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month. If you meet someone who you see needs help, try to talk with them and encourage them to get help, it’s very important and could save someone’s life.
