Mary Anne Meeker

Mary Anne (Matteson) Meeker, age 78 of Ellwood City, Pa., and formerly of Walton, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb. 26.

Mary was born May 4, 1943 in Syracuse, to the late Dr. Reginald Grant and Helen Marie (Paddock) Matteson.

She was a member of Hope Community Reformed Presbyterian Church, Beaver Falls, having joined the denomination as a teenager in Syracuse.

A graduate of Central High School class of 1961, she then earned her bachelor’s degree in education from Geneva College, Beaver Falls, Pa. She taught school in Iowa, Indiana, and New York, and retired after 20 years of service from the Hancock Central School District, Hancock.

Mary is survived by her loving and devoted husband Karl whom she married June 7, 1969 in Indianapolis, Ind. She will be greatly missed by her children and their spouses: Heather (Quinn) Metheny, Chris (Kat) Meeker, Greg (Lindsey) Meeker, and Andy (Nina Frank) Meeker, and 12 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Bonnie Winchell of Hastings, whom she dearly loved, her sister-in-law Juanita Matteson, and many special cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Reginald Jr. and Ronald, and an especially close cousin, Marilyn Smith.

A memorial service will be held at Hope Community Reformed Presbyterian Church, 3400 5th Avenue, Beaver Falls, Pa., Saturday, March 5 at 11 a.m.

Mary’s family would like to thank the staff members of Grane Hospice and Home Instead for their loving and attentive care.
