Mary A. Bowker of Deposit passed away at her home on Wednesday, March 2, 2022. She was 88 years old.

She was born Mary Conway on Nov. 25, 1933 in Colesville. Mary was one of 12 children and graduated from Deposit Central School, Class of 1950.

She was predeceased by her mother, Lottie Barnes; her husband Thomas Bowker Sr., and sons Rick and Ronnie Budine, and a grandson Randy Mower as well as sisters Barbara Dancesia, Betty Robinson and Frances Lee, and brothers Ken, Carl, Bobby and Lyle Conway, and Jim and Bud Barnes.

Mary is survived by her children Sharon (Ed) Wist, Cindy (Randy) Mower and Tom (Carol) Bowker Jr.; her sister Joyce Frazier and her brother Edward Barnes; nine grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She also leaves behind her wonderful neighbors Paul and Barb Reynolds and Randy and Donna Robertson, who were always there to lend an ear and hand if needed.

Mary worked for 33 years for Scintilla/Bendix/Amphenol in Sidney. Mary and her late husband owned a small farm where they raised their own beef for years and a few goats and chickens. She was a farmer at heart and maintained her own place for 30 years after Tom’s passing. For many years she hosted a friend/family reunion in the summer and enjoyed having everyone gather together. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the care she received during her stay at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City.

There was a funeral service Sunday, March 6, at 4 p.m. at Hennessey’s Funeral Home, 78 Second Street, Deposit.

The family received friends at the funeral home on Sunday, March 6.

A burial will be held at Anthony Cemetery in the spring.
