Marvin H. Walley Sr., 87, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 21, 2020, at Wilson Medical Center following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 7, 1932 in Walton, he was a son of the late David and Iona Millineaux Walley.
Marvin was married for 65 years to the love of his life, Charlotte Supers Walley.
Marvin proudly served our nation in the Army during the Korean War, enlisting in December of 1950 and being honorably discharged in December of 1953. He worked for S.J. Bailey & Sons, Inc. in Walton as a furniture maker for over 24 years until his retirement in 1985. Marvin was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed hunting, going fishing with his children and cutting firewood to make a bonfire to enjoy with close family and friends. He was still cutting wood for bonfires right up until the beginning of March before he became sick. For over 20 years Marvin and Charlotte drove their R.V. to California for the winter and back in the spring.
Survivors include his beloved wife Charlotte Walley; children Tina Bakker (Troy), Marjorie Paffenroth (Bob), Marvin Walley Jr. (Debbie), Patricia Roach (James), Merry Walley (Duane Bakker), David Walley (Catherine), Lorraine Hitt (Tim), Melody Walley, Jeffrey Walley and Allan Walley; sister Doris Groat (Norman); very close friends Darlene and Nikki Kern and many grandchildren and many more great-grandchildren. Marvin is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his parents, Marvin is predeceased by his brother Howard Walley and sisters Shirley Walley and Frances Walley.
In following with Marvin’s wishes, services will be private at the convenience of the family.
