Margot Heffernan of Delhi passed away Friday, July 9, 2021, of natural causes at the age of 88. Born in Staten Island, she graduated from Morristown High School in New Jersey and earned a bachelor’s degree in business from Ursuline College in Ohio. Margot and her husband Patrick raised their three children in Lyndhurst, Ohio. She was a devoted homemaker and mother and worked for National City Bank, first as a door-to-door customer service representative welcoming families moving to the area and then as a branch secretary. On Pat’s retirement, the couple moved to Walden in Aurora, Ohio. In recent years, after moving to the Delhi area to be near her daughter, Margot resided at the Plains in Oneonta and Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Margot loved her husband and family above all. Her other loves and pastimes included playing bridge, playing tennis as Pat’s partner, travel with him in later years, and especially their pet dogs, Marty, Sandy and Jenna. After Patrick passed in 2002, Margot volunteered locally with children’s literacy organizations and with Help Foundation of Cleveland, which serves the developmentally disabled. She was a devout Roman Catholic throughout her life and sang in the choir of the Church of the Holy Angels in Bainbridge, Ohio. In New York, Margot attended St. James Episcopal Church, Lake Delaware, where her son-in-law James Krueger was priest.

Margot is survived by her children Maureen Krueger of Bovina, and Paul and John Heffernan of Cleveland; her siblings Noelle Sullivan of Windsor Lochs, Conn., Fran House of Wallingford, Pa., and Michael Sullivan of Salem, Mass.; and two brothers-in-law Thomas and Dennis Heffernan.

The funeral will take place Thursday, July 15 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. A forty-day Requiem Mass will be celebrated sometime in August at Cloud-Bearing Mountain Christian Retreat Center in Bovina.

Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Help Foundation, Inc., 26900 Euclid Avenue, Euclid, OH 44132.
