Margery Tuttle

Margery Tuttle, 94, formerly of Downsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at Park Ridge Living Center in Rochester following a brief illness.

Born Oct. 15, 1925 in Goldenhill, Staffordshire England, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Mary Jane Bourne.

Margery married her beloved husband of 70 years Clark E. Tuttle on Nov. 10, 1945 in Goldenhill, Staffordshire England. She and Clark came to the United States in 1946 making Downsville their home. Margery was a longtime member of the Colchester Community Church; she was also a member of the local Women’s Club. She was also a member of the James S. Moore American Legion Post 167 Women’s Auxiliary, Downsville Senior Citizens and Downsville Historical Society. Margery enjoyed playing pinochle with her card club friends, enjoyed ceramics, yard sales, shopping and finding great deals for anything on sale and was an avid collector, especially of Beanie Babies and Barbie dolls.

Survivors include her children Janice Collen (Harvey) of Tyler, Texas, Clark Tuttle Jr. (Diane) of Pocono, Pa., Jo Ann Scheffer (Rick) of Hilton, Paul Tuttle of Canandaigua and Jerri McMichael (Vance) of Pittsburgh, Pa.; grandchildren Mark (Hilary) Cox, Matthew (Kathy) Scheffer, Jenny (Rick) Mathiesen, Jessica (John) Roe, Benjamin (Liz) Scheffer, Kathryn (Rich) Muser, Pat and Joshua McMichael and great-grandchildren Owen and Adelyn Cox, Hannah Scheffer, Annie Mathiesen, Christian and Brenden Scheffer and Richie and Victoria Muser. Margery is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She is predeceased by her parents Joseph and Mary Jane Bourne; beloved husband Clark E. Tuttle; grandson David Cox and several brothers and sisters.

Margery will be laid to rest with her late husband Clark at Paige Cemetery in Downsville. A service to celebrate Margery’s life will be held at a later date.
