Local Tracksters Place in Section IV Meet


Several local track and field participants placed in the top 15 during the annual Section IV Classic Saturday at Cornell University.
B-G eighth grader Ethne Degan placed first in the girls 3,000 meter run with a time of 10:57.99. Teammate McKayla Payne placed 13th with a time of 12:28.10. Payne also placed 10th in the girls 600 meter run.
B-G’s Erica Selfridge placed 12th in the 55 meter run, eighth in the long jump and sixth in the triple jump. Teammate Olivia Nichols was seventh in the high jump. Bobcats Abbey Delello was 13th in the weight throw, Justice Franklin was 13th in the 55 meter hurdles and Autumn Loucks placed ninth in the 1,500 race walk.
On the boys side, Bobcat Seth Foster placed 13th in the 55 meter dash, seventh in the 300 meter dash and 12th in the long jump. Teammates Elijah Baciuska placed 12th in the 3,200 meter run, Eian Hall placed sixth in the high jump and Nate Henry was ninth in shot put and fifth in weight throw.
Delaware Academy had two first place finishes with Diego Aguirre in the boys 3,200 meter run with a time of 10:02.64, and Lindsey Wright in the weight throw with a throw of 42-08.00. Wright also placed fourth in the shot put.
Others placing for DA were: Sam Lees in 11th place in the 3,200 meter run; Eleanor Lees placed 15th in the 1,000 meter run, and 13th in the 600 meter run; Ty Saleman placed fourth in the 1,000 meter run; Chance Caffery was 10th in the 300 meter run; Jonathon Hadley was fifth in the 1,600 meter run and Vincent VanMaaren was third in the pole vault.
Deposit/Hancock’s Kelsey Young was 12th in the 1,000 meter run and 11th in the 1,500 meter run.
Unatego’s Anabel Rommer placed fourth in the 600 meter run, and Jacob Haqq continued his dominance in the triple jump, winning it with a leap of 45-04.50. Haqq also placed second in the long jump.
Sidney’s Lindsay Frederick was third in shot put and ninth in weight throw; Noah Artis placed 13th in the 1,000 meter run; Jonathan McNamara was eighth in the high jump and seventh in the triple jump; Schylar Rowe was 11th in the long jump; Kevin McEwan was fifth in shot put and fourth in weight throw and JonMarrick Crawford was seventh in the shot put.
