Local COVID Cases Tick Up Again

Posted

DELHI – As Delaware County and the rest of the Southern Tier region prepare for a limited business reopening on Friday, another new case of COVID-19 was reported locally.

According to the county health department, with another new case reported since yesterday, there are nine active cases in the county. Three of them are hospitalized. An additional 12 people are under mandatory quarantine. Four people have died and fifty have fully recovered.

Meanwhile, more than a hundred New York children have been diagnosed with inflammation of the blood vessels, which appears to be related to the coronavirus. 82 of those cases are in New York City. Fourteen other states are investigating similar cases, which have also been reported in the U.K.

Businesses allowed to reopen in phase one of the state plan must have public health safety measures in place, and all state residents are required to wear masks when in public places where social distancing is difficult.

The state's reopening plan involves careful monitoring of virus cases, with the option of either opening faster or closing back down depending on the infection rate and hospitals' ability to handle any increase in cases.
