Linda Aitken

Linda (Porath) Aitken, 76, of Delhi, died Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center after a courageous two year battle with cancer. 

She was born on Dec. 5, 1945 in Summit, the daughter of the late Donald and Irma Porath.

Linda’s entire career focused on her culinary skills working at Delaware Academy and SUNY Delhi CADI. Linda retired from SUNY Delhi CADI after 25 years. She was an accomplished baker and the family will fondly remember her breakfast sweet rolls and Christmas fudge.

In addition to baking, Linda’s passions included her children and grandchildren, antiques/flea markets, camping, cruising, playing bingo with her friends at Delhi Senior Housing and visiting local casinos with her sisters.

Linda is survived by her sisters Linda Knight of Central Bridge, Emma Guy of Central Bridge, Debbie Dewitt of Summit, and Alice Stopa of Buffalo; brother-in-law Richard (Bonnie) Aitken of Yuma, Ariz.; her children Donald (Sherry) Aitken of Bloomville, Margie (Kevin) Heannings of East Meredith, Robert (Judy) Aitken of Norwich, Vicki (Steve) Goodyear of Clifton Park, and Thomas (Jennifer) Aitken of Delhi. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides her parents, Linda was predeceased by her husband Harold Aitken, sisters: Darlene Altheiser, Gladys Lashaway, Leola Sisson, Evie Derstine and Hazel Swint; and brothers Roger Allen and Billie Sisson; a son, Steven Aitken and grandson, Jeffrey Aitken.

Calling hours will take place on Saturday, April 16  from 1 until 3 p.m. at the MacArthur Funeral Home, 134 Main Street, Delhi. A private burial will immediately follow for the family at Woodlawn Cemetery.
