A copy of the budget will be available in the Library for review.
Please come out and vote so we can continue being a Community Resource for our area.
Anyone who would prefer an absentee ballot can contact the Libary.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC
COMMENT PERIOD
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN, that the Town Board of the Town of Kortright will be accepting written comments on whether or not the City of New York (and/or its agents) should be allowed to acquire certain parcels or conservation easements in an area of the Town where land acquisition by the City was previously prohibited. The subject parcels are located in an area of the Town located at Expanded Designated Area in the Town of Kortright and are identified on the Delaware County Tax Map as Parcel #s87.-2-10, 85.-1-20.11 and 106.-2-25.3.
Under the Water Supply Permit for the City of New York, issued by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (“DEC”) under Article 15, title 15 of the New York State Environmental Conservation Law, the New York City Department of Environmental Protection (“DEP”) is authorized to purchase land within the New York City Watershed West-of-Hudson River as a component of DEP’s water quality protection program, subject to certain limitations. Land (or land subject to conservation easements) purchased by DEP are forever restricted from future residential or commercial development and must remain as open space. Special Condition 10 of the Water Supply Permit identifies areas within each community that from an environmental, social and economic perspective should remain unrestricted in order to ensure that the amount of developable land in the community is sufficient to accommodate future generations. Under Special Condition 10 of the Water Supply Permit, the Town Board previously exercised its discretion to prohibit the City (and/or its agents) from purchasing parcels or conservation easements located in Areas denoted as the 1997 Designated Hamlet Area and the 2010 Expanded Designated Area. The subject parcels are located in the Expanded Designated Area. Therefore, the Town Board must adopt a resolution to permit the DEP to acquire parcels or conservation easements on the subject properties. The Town Board will accept comments from the public on these determinations for 30 days starting March 24, 2021. Written comments may be submitted to the Town Clerk at the following address: PO Box 6, Bloomville, NY 13739. Comments may also be submitted to the Town Clerk by email at the following address: kortrightclerk@hotmail.com. All written comments must be submitted by the close of business on April 23, 2021. Under Special Condition 10 of the Water Supply Permit, the Town Board has a limited period of time to pass resolutions addressing these issues. The Town Board does not anticipate being able to extend the public comment period.
