Laura Jean MacGibbon, 95, of Walton, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2021, at Roscoe Community Nursing Home following a brief illness.

Born July 19, 1926, in Walton, she was a daughter of the late John Campbell and Frances Tuttle.

Laura worked at several local businesses in the Walton community throughout the years, including Stockton Avenue Market, The Fabric Shop and as a waitress at Poor Richard’s Restaurant. When Laura was not working, she enjoyed traveling with her husband all over the U.S. She also enjoyed baking, making crafts, long walks with her husband, Raymond, and reading a good book. She was a longtime member of the Walton United Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her children, Ken MacGibbon (Dixie), Cathy Elwood (Donald), Karen White (Edward) and Keith MacGibbon; grandchildren Annette, Tom (Dawn), Gary (Kaycee), Cammie, Nicola, Bobbie-Jo, Stacey (Jimmy), Edward, Kristy, Sara, James, and Mark (Tabitha); great-grandchildren Ryan, Nicole (Caine), Joshua (Kacie), Derrick, Amanda, Garrett, Grayson, Daxtin, Nathan, Lane, Joshua, Noah, Amelia, Jolie and J.T.; and great-great-grandchildren Elliott and Riley Paige. Laura is also survived by several nieces and nephews, her sisters-in-law Alta Holley, Betty MacGibbon and Audrey MacGibbon. Laura is predeceased by her beloved husband Raymond MacGibbon who passed away Oct. 5, 2007; brother Donald Campbell; sisters June Holton, Camilla Peluso, Jane Benna, and Faye Niece.

A graveside service to celebrate Laura’s life will be held on Saturday, May 21, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton, with Pastor Paul Huh officiating.

Memorial donations in Laura’s memory may be made to the Roscoe Community Nursing Home Resident Holiday Fund, 420 Rockland Road, Roscoe, NY 12776.
