Katharine A. Mack, 87, of Norwich passed away Thursday afternoon, Sept. 16, 2021, at home with family by her side.

Katharine was born in Walton on June 7, 1934, the daughter of Franklin and Charlotte (Cole) Baker. She grew up in the Walton area and was a graduate of the Walton High School. Her working career spanned a period of 30 plus years beginning with Delaware Telephone Co. and its successors ending up with Frontier Communications from which she retired. One of Katharine’s claims to fame was the fact she NEVER missed a day of work. She was also an avid reader of many types of books. She was also a member of the Willowemac Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star in Downsville.

On Nov. 7, 1954 in Walton, she married Charles A. Mack who passed away April 19, 2009 after 54 years of marriage.

Katharine is survived by her daughter Wendy Gossage, and son David (Kim) Mack both of Norwich; grandchildren Dustin (Jennifer) Bowker and Dylan Mack, great-grandchildren Destiny Bowker, Avianna Bowker, Benjamin Bowker and Gabriella Bowker. Also surviving is her sister Susan (Steven) Brainard of Walton, along with nieces and nephews.

Beside her husband Charles, Katharine was predeceased by her sister Pricilla (Pat) Lewis and her brother Edward Baker.

A funeral service for Katharine was held on Tuesday, Sept. 21, at the R.J. Fahy Funeral Home. The Rev. Jen Westervelt, Pastor of the Canasawacta Valley Free Methodist Church of Norwich officiated. Interment was in the Mt. Hope Cemetery.
