Joyce T. Steflik, 72, of Downsville, passed away peacefully on Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 at University of Rochester Medicine Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester following a long battle with Leukemia.

Born Sept. 4, 1948 in Margaretville, she was a daughter of the late Russell and Edith Cicio Todd.

Joyce worked for 20 plus years as the treasurer for Downsville Central School. She was the Deputy Town Clerk in Colchester for many years. Joyce was the town librarian in Downsville, a longtime member of the Downsville Central Schools Alumni Association and a member of the Colchester Historical Society. When Joyce was not busy serving her community, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, but most of all loved spending time with her family, especially her eight grandchildren.  

Survivors include her beloved husband of 54 years, John Steflik; children Maria Brown (Matthew), Tim Steflik (Kerry), Keith Steflik (Christie), Jeremy Steflik (Sharon) and Kristen Tepas; brothers Robert Todd (Dorothy Ann) and Donald Todd (Sheila) and grandchildren Rachael Brown, Emma Brown, Kyle Steflik, Brooke Steflik, Evan Steflik, Cora Steflik, Tyler Tepas and Anthony Tepas.

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, Aug. 22, from 5-7 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held on Monday, Aug. 23, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial at Paige Cemetery, Downsville will be private at the convenience of the family.
