Joan E. Luscomb, 85, of Downsville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at O’Connor Hospital in Delhi following a long illness.

 Born May 7, 1934 in in Hamden, she was a daughter of the late Orson J. and Ella O’Connor Barnes.

On May 7, 1954, Joan married the love of her life, Roger L. Luscomb. They were married 57 years until his passing in March of 2011.

Joan was a 1952 graduate of Downsville Central School. She was a gifted and talented writer. When it came to writing, her passion was creating poems and she loved sending greeting cards to family and friends on every occasion. Joan loved her children and grandchildren more than life itself - they meant the world to her. She loved to talk on the phone and looked forward to her conversations with family and friends. She also loved her flowers and feeding and watching all the beautiful birds.

Survivors include her children Andrea Mousseau (Phil), Janet Williams, Steve Luscomb (Dulcie), Lorna Luscomb, Russell Luscomb (MaryAnn); her brother William Barnes (Lena) and grandchildren Angela Neale (Kelly), Tiffany Schidzick (Carl), Jesse Luscomb, Kyle James, Staci James, Terina Touw, Erica Collins, Georgia O’Dell, Rose Yannis, Alexander Mousseau and Jeremy Mousseau. Joan is also survived by numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was predeceased by her beloved husband Roger L. Luscomb; son Michael Luscomb; grandson Ryan Neale and great-grandson, Daniel Neale; her brothers Leo, Robert, George, Jack, Nelson and Warren Barnes; sisters Marjorie Cox, Virginia Brown, Dolly Barnes and Jean Homovich and June Akins (her identical triplet sisters).

Joan’s family would like to recognize the wonderful, kind hearted people that cared for mom, a very special friend Sharon Edwards and Belinda and Tim.

A service to celebrate Joan’s life will be held at a day and time to be announced by the family. Joan will be laid to rest with her family in Harvard Cemetery in East Branch.
