Janet Harmon

Janet L. Harmon of Unadilla, and formerly of Franklin, passed away Dec. 14, 2022 after a long illness, with her sister at her side.

She was born Dec. 18, 1957 in Sidney, the daughter of John and Marjorie (Woodard) Harmon.

Janet was a 1976 graduate of Franklin Central School. She was known as an outstanding athlete and was a member of the varsity soccer, volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She also participated in many school clubs and activities.

Janet went on to graduate from the Utica School of Commerce with an associate degree in computers.

She worked at Burt Box Company, Amphenol, Seely’s, and for the last 21 years, at Mead West (Acco Brands) in the Human Resources department from which she retired.

Janet enjoyed camping and spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed family vacations at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. She was a very kind and generous person who would help anyone.

She is survived by her sister Cheryl Harmon; three nephews, Steven, Christopher and Matthew Dyke; her aunt Joyce Worden, and several cousins. She is also survived by her two cats, Snickers and Oreo.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother David J. Harmon; grandparents Stanley and Edna Woodard; uncles Paul Worden and Bob Woodard; and cousins Tim Woodard and Elizabeth Woodard.

A graveside committal service will take place in the spring in Ouleout Valley Cemetery, Franklin, at the convenience of the family.
