Jim passed away peacefully on March 24, 2018, at Chestnut Park Nursing Home in Oneonta, following a long illness.

Jim was born on July 7, 1943, in Walton. Jim was a graduate of Walton Central School. He worked at S.J. Bailey’s for many years and later worked with Meals On Wheels. He and his wife Mary also enjoyed volunteering with the Delaware Lancers.

Jim is the son of the late Alfred and Daisy O’Dell of Walton. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary (Reynolds) O’Dell. Jim is survived by his daughter, Abby Curtis and son, Freddie Reynolds, granddaughter, Genia Curtis, grandson, Gene Curtis, great-grandchildren, Michael, Jayden, Eli, and Fancy. He is also survived by his sister, Betty Locaso (Louis) of Downsville and nieces Sharie and Nicole and nephews Dennis and Anthony, and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Jim was known as “Mad Dog” or “Jungle Jim” by his friends and family and will be fondly remembered for his great sense of humor and wit.

A celebration of Jim’s life will be this summer in Walton.
