James (Jim) H. MacDonald, age 84, of Hancock, died peacefully in his sleep on Monday, May 2, 2022.

Jim was a life-long resident of Cadosia. He was born in Hancock on March 10, 1938, the son of James H. MacDonald and Pauline (Possemato) Warfield. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Doris, and his parents Pauline (Possemato) Warfield and James H. MacDonald.  

He is survived by four daughters: Cory (Jack) Hazen, Julie (Tom) Lawler, Paula (Rob) Reinhard, and Patty (John) Rosello; two sons, Jim (Joannie) MacDonald, and Mike MacDonald; and a brother Robert Possemato; grandchildren Amy Bollinge, Jamie (Josh) Ostrander, Jack (Amanda) Hazen, Jennifer (Dave) Gallo, Sean Lawler, Suzy (Buck) Szur, Jason (Amanda) Day, Glenn (Stephanie) Day, Michelle (Jeremy) Burke, Brittany (Patrick) Huffman, Cody (Carly) MacDonald, James R. MacDonald II, Chelsea MacDonald, Emily MacDonald and many great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Jim shared his wife’s passion for his family. The roles of husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather were the most important things in life to him. He gave so much love to his family and was an amazing father and grandfather giving his family a strong example of what it means to be a husband, father and grandfather. Nothing gave him more joy than being surrounded by his family in “Pop’s Garage” barbecuing, telling great stories and sharing memories. Jim was an avid sportsman throughout his life. One of his favorite pastimes was traveling to visit his many children with his loving navigator by his side. Jim worked many years in construction and finished his career working for the New York Department of Transportation bridge crew.

Jim wished to have a private burial service.
