James M. “Jay” Klinegardner Jr., 45, of Walton, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022 at home. Jay was born May 12, 1977 in Walton, the son of the late James M. Klinegardner and Denise Ray (Armstrong) Freyer. 

Jay was a self-employed stonecutter in the Walton area. He loved riding motorcycles, canoeing, tubing and golfing. Jay had an artistic side, where he created artwork on paper and for tattoos. His favorite thing to do was spend time with his family. He also loved his dogs. 

Jay is survived by his loving family, daughter Brooke Klinegardner of Walton; grandson Braxton Bifaro; life partner and fiancée Alisha Kinne Dean and her children Natalie, Conner, Damien, Addison and Colt; brothers Michael and Craig Klinegardner of Roscoe and Joel Klinegardner of Walton; aunts and uncles Louis and Eileen Klinegardner, Terri and Michael Wright, Cheryl Green, Dawn and Jack Whiteside and Walter and Lisa Kinch of Walton; Tim and Cindy Armstrong of South Carolina, Keith and Diane Miller of Saratoga, Jeff and Carole Armstrong of Walton, DeeDee Miller Wyckoff of North Carolina, Gary Armstrong of Callicoon, Victoria Lesh of Cochecton; sisters-in-law Angel and Jessica Klinegardner; special nieces Cortney, Mary and Lilyann Klinegardner; nephew Skyler Klinegardner, and several cousins. 

He was predeceased by his parents, brother Millard Klinegardner, and several aunts and uncles. 

A memorial service was held Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 1 p.m. at the Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton with Pastor Bob Wilkie, officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family in Walton Cemetery.
