James L. Browning

James L. Browning, 64, of Walton, passed away Friday, March 23, 2018, at home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born August 20, 1953, in Oneonta, the son of the late Leon Browning and Bertha (McAdams) Browning Dean.

For many years, James was a farmer and also a truck driver for H.J. Berry Stone and Gravel in Milford.

On May 22, 1977, James married Ruth Williams in Bloomingburg.

He enjoyed being in the outdoors whether it was hunting, fishing or working on cars. He also liked buying tools. But most of all, James was a family man. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

James is survived by his loving wife, Ruth Browning, Walton; children, Donna Browning, Oneonta, BillyJoe Browning (Chris Erickson), Oneonta and William Browning (LeAnne), Walton; stepdaughter, Inez Williams, Texas; grandchildren, Dominique Jackman, Selena Torres, Madison Henderson, Dominic Poirier, Austin Smith, Blaike Knapp, Christopher Erickson Jr., Gemma Erickson, William Browning Jr., and Kori Browning; great-grandson, Cameron M. Torres; brother, Orville Dean, Port Jervis; special friends, Harold Berry and Bill Hotaling; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers John and Roger Dean.

Calling hours and funeral services were Monday, April 2, in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, with the Rev. Steve Estes officiating. Burial will be in the spring in the Maryland Cemetery, Maryland.
