Jackie L. Turner, 61, joined her Savior Nov. 6, 2021, with her family by her side at Cooperstown Centers Nursing & Rehab.

Jackie was born Feb. 24, 1960 in Walton, the daughter of Richard and Gwendolyn (VanLoan) Turner.

Jackie grew up in Walton, graduating from Walton Central School. She completed a graduate degree in school counseling from SUNY-Oneonta, and SUNY-Delhi Nursing Program.

Jackie held various jobs over the years, but found her calling later in life when she became a skilled and caring R.N.

Jackie loved her family and loved being with them. Jackie’s children and grandchildren meant the world to her.

Favorite times were outings with family at Walton Mtn. Sportsmen’s Club, and trips with family to Maine. Her family ancestry was very important to her.

Jackie loved God and had a strong faith. She was a member of Community Gospel Church, Oneonta.

Jackie loved life, loved animals, gardening, biking, and Celtic festivals.

Jackie liked doing projects around her home, learning carpentry and electrical work from her Dad.

She was learning to play the bagpipes before her health started to fail.

Jackie found her soulmate, best friend and caregiver, Kent, whom she shared her life with these past few years.

Jackie is survived by her children, Jason LaRose and his wife, Danielle, of Virginia, Lillian Katoke and Jacob Katoke, both of Oneonta; grandchildren Wilamina, Waylon, Dylan, and Elinor LaRose, Lillian and Della Grinnen; loving companion Kent Kling of Oneonta; her mother Gwen VanLoan of Massachusetts; father and stepmother Richard and Susan Turner of Walton; sisters Connie Turner of Massachusetts, Darcie Trapasso of New York, brother Rick Turner of Vermont, and her Scotty dog, Eiple. Jackie was blessed with a lifelong multitude of admirers. Some most dear to her are Karen Geasey and Melissa Peterson.

Special thank you to Kaylee Croft, Maribeth McGregor and Steven Woodbeck, Lori Solensten and Maryanne Calkins for their enduring support, love and expert care of Jackie.

A memorial service and celebration of life is being planned for a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jackie’s memory to The Alzheimer’s Association at The Meadows, Suite 2, 140 Co. Hwy. 33W, Cooperstown, NY 13326; or Helios Care, 297 River Street Service Road, Oneonta, NY, 13820. A scholarship will be established in her name at Otsego Christian Academy, P.O. Box 544, Otego, NY 13825.
