Helen Weerheim, a lifelong resident of Treadwell, died on Feb. 24, 2021 at the age of 95.

She is predeceased by her loving husband of 65 years, Howard; her sisters Karen and Doreen; brothers Lawrence, Ray and Lynn; and her parents, Wilmer and Gertrude Archibald; her son-in-law Ron Stewart; a brother-in-law Joe Gagnon; and many, many friends.

Helen is survived by her children, Elwood (Salinda) Weerheim, Marlene Stewart, Keith (Karen) Weerheim, and Lorna (Brian) Maguire; her sister Marjorie Gagnon; eight grandchildren, one great-granddaughter; and many nieces and nephews.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for Delaware Academy and A.L. Kellogg as the district clerk.

She leaves behind a lifetime of wonderful memories, traveling to every state, family reunions, baking chocolate-chip cookies, reading, jigsaw puzzles, Upwords, and playing games with her grandchildren and friends.

Known by many as the “Queen of Treadwell,” we are blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from her during her 95 years, among them: the importance of family, every cookie counts, nothing like a good book, always value friendships, and “everyone is welcome here.”

Due to the restrictions pertaining to COVID-19, a celebration of life will be scheduled during the summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Helen Weerheim’s memory may be made to the Treadwell Fire Department Emergency Squad, 69 Miller Road Treadwell, NY 13846.
