Gwendolyn Marie Cole, 93, of Andes, passed away on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at Delhi Rehabilitation and Nursing Center.

Born on Nov. 10, 1928 in Andes, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Edith (Haynes) Reynolds. 

She married Glenn V. Cole Sr. on Nov. 24, 1945, in Lisle; he passed away on April 26, 2012.

Gwendolyn was a homemaker most of her life, however in her earlier years she worked as a “Gray Lady” at Margaretville Hospital, and she was also a school bus driver at Andes Central School.

She was an active member over the years in the Andes Emergency Squad and the Andes Fire Dept. Auxiliary. Gwendolyn was a gifted cook and baker and was best known for her peanut butter balls and her famous mac and cheese recipe.

Besides her husband, Gwendolyn was predeceased by her daughter Jacqueline A. and her husband William Cowan; granddaughter Donna Marie Cowan; son-in-law George Hall Sr., and several special four-legged pets.

She is survived by her children Joyce C. Hall and Glenn V. (Barbara Ann) Cole Jr.; grandchildren George (Christine) Hall Jr., Robert (Maria) Hall, Melissa Ann (Brent) McGrady, and Ashley Elizabeth (Matthew) Lakin; great-grandchildren Meredith Hall, Nathan Hall, Abby Hall, Leanna Marie McGrady, Anna Lakin, Cole Hall, and Brogan Cole McGrady; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A celebration of Gwendolyn’s life will be announced in the future.
