Gordon Neil Baxter, 78, of Downsville, passed away on July 18, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
Born on March 7, 1943 in Unadilla, he was a son of the late Arland and Lucille (Soules) Baxter.
For over 40 years, Gordon was employed by Kraft in Walton, until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who was very involved in hunting, fishing, gardening, and several other outdoor activities. He was a member of the Camp 61 Hunting Club. Gordon could always found chopping fire wood.
On Sept. 23, 1961 he married Judith Macy in Walton. This year they would have celebrated 60 wonderful years together.
Survivors include his loving wife, Judith Baxter; their children, Brenda Charles (Barry), David Baxter and James Baxter (Betseylynn); grandchildren, Heather Fidler, Jeremy Charles, Krista Baxter, Nick Baxter (Alison), Justin Baxter and Daniel Baxter; great-grandchildren, Hailey Fidler, Charlie Fidler and Emily Fidler; his siblings, Carol Winters and Robert Baxter; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by a brother, Lonnie Baxter.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, July 22, from 4 to 6 p.m. at Courtney Funeral Home, 25 Townsend Street, Walton. A memorial service will be private and at the convenience of the family.
