George F. Palmer, 90, of Unadilla passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2020 at the New York State Veterans’ Home in Oxford following a brief illness.

Born on Sept. 2, 1930 in Deposit, he was the son of the late Elmer and Kathryn (Madough) Palmer.

On Oct. 17 1953, George married his wife, Betty LaTourette in Trout Creek.

George served our country in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953. He owned and operated Randy Lee Farm in Unadilla for many years. George was a gifted carpenter who often made furniture for his grandchildren. For over 20 years, George and Betty enjoyed camping trips and winters spent in Florida.

Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Betty Palmer; his children, Randy Palmer of Sidney and Ronald Palmer (Colleen Rought) of Charlotte, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jennette Mowry (Curt) and Casey Goodwin (Keith) and great-grandson, Colby Goodwin. 

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his brothers Charles Palmer, Ralph Palmer, Warren Palmer and Albert Palmer and his sisters Isabelle Mattox, Abbey Holmes, Lorina Humphry and Ruth Foster.

A graveside service will be held at Walton Cemetery in the spring at a day and time to be announced.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in George’s memory may be made to the Sidney Center Fire and EMS Squad, 10433 County Highway 23, Sidney Center, NY 13839 or Trout Creek Community Church, 8558 County Highway 27, Trout Creek, NY 13847.
