Gail (Pritchard) Wormsley

Posted

With her usual impeccable timing, Gail (Pritchard) Wormsley passed away on Dec. 25, 2019. Her boundless energy and humor will be greatly missed by all who loved her. The stories we tell of her life, full of madcap adventures, will keep us laughing for generations to come.
Born May 23, 1939, Gail was the youngest of five children and the “G” in what came to be known by teachers and neighbors as the “ABC Family”. Parents, Avis and Bill, along with siblings: Calvin, Dolores (Mattison), Elliot and Fran (Carroll) were well known in the area; and Gail graduated with Sidney’s Class of 1957.
On July 21, 1957, she married a young and handsome James Wormsley who had swept her off her feet while dancing at the Norwich Grange. They settled in Masonville to raise their six rambunctious children.
Always resourceful, resilient and quick-witted, Gail brought a burst of energy to everything she did: motherhood, real estate, nurses’ aide at Walton Hospital and in-home care provider. Everyone who knew her, and all the families she became a part of as she cared for their loved ones, will dearly miss her.
Gail was predeceased by her husband and by her daughter, Luann, as well as both parents; two brothers, Calvin and Elliot and her son-in-law, Pete Hager. Her children: Randy, Penny Hager, Roger (and Katie), Todd and Jamie Wormsley; and her grandchildren: Nathan and Mary Hager, Tyler (and Kelly), Jessica, Kyle and Caitlin Wormsley, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors, will continue to tell her stories and laugh at her jokes.
In honor of Gail’s wishes, there will be no formal funeral or calling hours. A memorial will be observed at the convenience of the family in the spring.
