Frederick P. Meyers, 99, formerly of Walton, and Rockland County, passed away on May 28, 2021 in San Diego County, Calif.

Fred was born in Park Ridge, N.J. and grew up in Rockland County. He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater. After the war, he married his wife Vabina and worked at Continental Can and its successors in Piermont, until his retirement. After retirement, he and Vabina moved to Walton, where they were active in the First Baptist Church of Walton and worked tirelessly at the Walton Food Bank for 21 years.

Fred was predeceased by Vabina Meyers, his wife of 63 years, and his brothers Edwin and Carl. He is survived by his daughters Judy and Lori and their husbands, his brother Robert and sister June, his grandsons, brother-in-law and sister-in-law and his many nieces and nephews and their children.

Calling hours to which relatives and friends are invited to attend will take place on Friday, June 18, from 10-11 a.m. at New Hope Community Church, 45 Stockton Avenue, Walton. A service to celebrate Frederick’s life will follow at the church at 11 a.m. with Pastor Larry Light officiating. Burial will take place at Walton Cemetery, 55 Fancher Avenue, Walton.

Memorial donations in Fred’s memory may be made to the Walton Food Bank, 58 East Street, Walton, NY 13856.
